We all want the best deals on our car
insurance. Most people don’t realise that they can save money
on their car insurance premiums. An average of 50% of drivers
pay too much for their insurance, but there are ways of finding the
best deals, it just takes a little effort and a little time.
You may think you don’t have any spare time to search for the best
deals, after all, ‘time is money’...and in this case, it’s perfectly
correct. Taking an hour out of the day can save people up to
an average of £200 on their car insurance. £200 for an hour’s
work: yes please!
The reason that so many people are over paying their car insurance
premiums is simply because they accept the annual renewals offered
by their existing insurers. The insurance companies know that
people are highly likely to accept a renewal quote without
questioning the price. They charge more, because it is
profitable for them to do so. If you want cheap car insurance,
you must always contact your insurance company at the point of
renewal and negotiate a better rate. Furthermore, it is good
practice to compare
motor insurance quotes between insurance
companies, too.
There are many ways of reducing car insurance
premiums further, aside from using comparisons websites, or
negotiation better rates with the existing insurance company, and
these include:
- Adding car alarms, trackers, and
immobilisers
- Using secure overnight parking, such
as a garage, or a residential car park
- Increase the amount of voluntary
excess you are willing to pay in the event of a claim
- Reduce your annual mileage
- Maintain your driving record in good
standard – the fewer claims you make, the more no claims
discount you will be able to claim.
